I am having a lovely, peaceful day with just me and the cats; they've had some bacon and are very happy with that, if a bit bemused by their new bowl and toys. I have a glass of Bailey's and classic FM. I know I'm not a Christian but I do like the carols - it's all a return of the light metaphor which is just about as old as humans first taking note of the seasons - and you can't get more pagan than that.
My parsnips should be cooked soon, I thought I'd treat myself to a nice big turkey meal while I await the coming of the Doctor Who Christmas special in 3.5 hours.
I've done the family phone calls- Mum isn't well today so when I head down to see her on Saturday it's likely the planned Christmas dinner will take place then - if she's better of course. I've said Hi via text and Internet to plenty of my friends, and am rather geekily having a Christmas party in one of my LJ RPs - that's incredibly geeky (maybe a little sad? I dunno) but I rather like it.
Also, a druid friend put a lovely message in his LJ this morning that was just wonderful - about the sun moving at the end of the Solstice... that really touched me and made me feel very in touch with the origins of this festival.
In some respects it's quite odd, being alone, it would be nice to have someone to share the day with, but I really don't mind too much... I enjoy being able to spend the time as I like with no expectations or forcing of anything.
I had 2 prezzies this morning that I got from friends, a 1979 Doctor Who annual (how cool is that!) and a build your own stonehenge *g*. One of my friends expressed alarm at this and is apparently sending me something in the post- how mysterious! I also acquired a Dalek Sec hybrid last weekend :) I also decided to treat myself to a new sonic screwdriver and a laser screwdriver too, happy Geekmas to me :)
Am planning on maybe doing some vid work later.
Enjoy your day, whatever you are doing.
